Brain Dump:Relaxing My Mind

Do you ever feel like your mind is constantly racing with thoughts to the point where it results in a headache?. Literally that is me all the time. It’s like my mind is a hamster spinning on a wheel all day nonstop. When these thoughts happen, I try my hardest to not let them get the best of me, especially the shitty ones. Here are some of the things I tend to do to help ease my mind.

  1. Journaling- My journal is my life line. It’s always on my nightstand. Everytime I feel overwhelmed, I write everything down till my hand cramps up and can’t write any more. Writing things down really helps me release a lot of what im thinking whether good or bad. I’ve also come to realize that writing down my ideas and goals can possibly allow them to manifest in real life.

2. Take a Nap- Yes, I said naps!! My head will be throbbing when I’m overthinking . So, laying down for a few minutes (or  in my case a couple of hours) helps relieve some of my stress. Truth be told, I’ve yet to understand the concept of a power nap, so these “naps” I’m talking about end up in full blown sleep sessions. Anyway, once I wake up, I can tell you I feel much more relaxed.

3. Prayer- The Big Man upstairs really be pulling through for me. I feel God just allows me to just dump all my thoughts unto Him. He takes care of whatever I’m worried about by comforting me with His peace. I can go to Him whenever and He is right there waiting to listen to me.

4. Reading a book – I wasn’t a heavy reader at first, but honestly now, that’s all I do. Being lost in a book really puts my mind at ease because I’m no longer worrying about the next thing. I get to escape to another world. This also allows my imagination to run wild about a story as opposed to creating scenarios in my mind that inevitably lead to anxiety.

Hopefully this can help you relax your mind.

  1. This was very helpful. Reading your blog help me realize some of my struggles I have been dealing with all the crap I’ve been through at the job. Prayers really help me. Taking naps too. Thanks take care
