Recharge

These past few months and especially past few weeks have been super overwhelming. I knew that working through a pandemic was going to be tough, however, I never expected to work amid a racial war while still in a pandemic. From having to deal with management, coworkers, patients, and social media has been draining. Like everyone else my emotions have been in such disarray causing me to put my mental health on the back burner due to having to “show up” every day whether it was for work, friends, and family. The small joys that I’ve once enjoyed like getting off the clock, have now been replaced with tuning in on social media to be in the constant loop. With all that’s happening now, everyone is finding ways to be proactive for the fight of injustice that is happening toward our black brothers and sisters. The injustices that have and are currently taking place have fueled anger, rage, confusion, and exhaustion among our people.Β  Simply put we are tired. However, when it comes to fighting the good fight we must remember to take care of ourselves as well. Without good physical and mental health, what can we do? Nothing. When you do feel or reach that level of exhaustion take a step back and RECHARGE. If you need a day off from work call out (trust they will be fine without you for a day or two)! Limit your social media intake, talk to a friend, watch a funny movie, anything that just gives a couple of hours of relief. Then when you feel charged up, continue the work that you have started. Best believe self- care is the best thing you can do for yourself during these trying times.Β
